FAQ - Amanda Bradt

Where will our session take place?

It is up to you! I offer both in-home and on location sessions. On location sessions can be a park, a visit to a coffee shop or a stroll through downtown, etc. On location sessions tend to be a bit more “posed” just because there aren’t toys to play with (unless we go to a playground!), furniture to jump on, food to make, etc. However, in both cases my style remains the same…less “posed” and more genuine, authentic moments. I am happy to help you make the decision as well!  Please note, if you choose an in-home session, where the photos take place will depend a lot on the natural light in your house. If for whatever reason light is lacking we may need to step outside for the majority of the photos.

We've decided on an in-home session, what should I do to prepare my house?

Firstly, do not stress! This is lifestyle photography, your images will tell a story about your family and your lives. Your home should reflect this and look lived in. However, spending just a few minutes decluttering the main areas will help to ensure there aren't large distractions in the images but by no means do you need to spend days preparing your house!

What time will my session take place?

Light is everything in my world! If you want my best work like you see in my portfolio, any outdoor sessions should take place about an hour or two before sunset. However, if we decide on an indoor session we have more flexibility…really any time works for those!

What should we wear?

Whatever is in your closet already! Be comfortable and be you. That being said, try to avoid graphics or fluorescent colors....plain and simple is always safe and timeless! Also, think coordinating, not matching, when planning for the family wardrobe.

What should I expect during the session?

Lots of fun! We will essentially just be hanging out, playing, laughing and having a good time! I will subtly “pose” you occasionally for some family portraits but mostly I will be guiding and encouraging you to just be with your family and not look at me. If we do an in-home session I’ll encourage the kids to show me their rooms, we can play with toys, do a craft, read a book, make a snack together, we’ll “pose” for a few family shots on the couch or the master bedroom, and if the weather is good we can head out to the yard for more fun. If we do an on-location session we can play at the park, go for a hike, visit a coffee shop, stop for an ice-cream, or go for a stroll downtown.

What happens after the session?

After the session, I will post a sneak peek on Facebook, and probably a few individual images on Instagram (let me know if you don't want me to share on social media). Then, within two weeks after your session, I'll send you a link to your online gallery where you can view and download all the fully edited, high-resolution images (at least 60, quite often much more). My session fees are simple and all-inclusive, meaning the digital files are yours to keep forever and you have standard printing rights. Because of this, however, it is VERY important that you back up your images by placing a second copy on an external drive or the cloud or both!

Can I order prints through you?

Absolutely!  Ordering prints is super easy!  Order any image in any size (including prints or canvases) right through your online gallery to be delivered directly to you.  I also supply you with a print release so you can print from anywhere of your choice.  However, for the best quality, I do always recommend ordering through me to guarantee the most accurate colors, exposure, and quality is maintained.

How and when do I pay you?

I ask for a $200 deposit to reserve your session date. The remaining balance is due at the time of your session.  I accept cash, PayPal, check, or all major credit cards.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!  I'm an open book!!!
